Description
The barman looked at the travelworn adventurers slouched over the end of his bar.
"You never said the rocks were alive", grumbled the largest of them.
"Or", began the bartender, "if you really want to earn fame and fortune, perhaps you could search out the brightest jewel of the Great Kingdom, the mages' citadel, Amarri-Tath."
"Many centuries ago, as the Great Kingdom rose in the west, it was decided that some sort of central building was needed as a base for the magical power in the land. It was to be no ordinary building, for rather than being rooted to the ground, it was to be suspended in the sky from where it could watch over the Kingdom and all of the lands beyond, a symbol of might and power for all to see."
"After many months of arguing about how to keep the castle in the air, the architects eventually settled on making the stonework as light as the clouds. At first this seemed to work well as the impossibly thin yet tall spires and arches rose upwards. However as the structure neared completion, what was described by people of the time as an unnatural storm came from the south and literally blew it away, the floating castle becoming forever lost to the winds and clouds."
"Undeterred by this turn of events, a second castle was planned. Sheer magical power won out over artistic beauty in the new design - a change of tack made all the more easier with the mysterious dissappearance of the previous architects. The mages proceeded to tear a mountain from the ground and forced it into the air, holding it aloft while the citadel was built atop it from huge blocks of stone. The entire structure was then carried over the lands and placed into the clouds that shrouded the sleepy mountain township of Three Peaks."
"With Amarri-Tath hovering above, it didn't take long for Three Peaks to become a bustling and prosperous city by day, but as the sun would set to end each of those same days, a time would come when trolls and other dark minions would venture forth to run the errands of unseen masters and so it also became a far darker and more dangerous place to be."
Part 3 of the barman's tale. Lots of my own modelling, though a couple of freebies were used, notably a modified version of rodlucs marketplace and a handful of svenarts freebie houses that I augmented with a pile of my own to fill out the city.

I like the composition and lighting of the scene. I noticed that it was rendered in Vue, yet your gallery page has a lot of images rendered in Bryce. Was there a reason you chose Vue for this render?
