Description

A jubilant Veldra Leng punches the air after scoring a maximum 35 in an exercise for markswomen. Never mind those guards with their popguns. If an off-planet enemy ever got close enough to be in danger from them, the game would be well and truly up. Veldra's the one that operates that Cataphract raycannon, capable of destroying an invading transport in the upper reaches of the atmosphere. Provided that the detection systems are functioning correctly, even a thick cloud layer shouldn't cause significant problems. Only on about one exercise in six is Veldra allowed to vaporise the target drones. The rest of the time (as in this case), she must simply "paint" the target with an energy-pulse. That counts as a hit, although Veldra is acutely aware that a much more substantial "hit" would be needed to destroy a real incoming transport, laden with hostile starmarines and heavily shielded. Still, the best you can be is the best, as Veldra will deliberately infuriate her inferior comrades by repeating ad nauseam this evening... Miki 2 Aiko 6 (but Miki wins).
