Description

I've been riding now for about 25 years and over the years my admiration for the Baroque horse and the Spanish school of riding continues to grow. While I don't own an Andalusian I love the breed (many people have asked me over the years if my buckskin Morgan mare is an Andalusian:) and would love someday to have an Andalusian partner. Only problem with that is the Spaniards almost exclusively ride stallions/rarely ride and/or train their mares and I am most definitely a mare person:) So on with it... I have always wanted to do a portrait of a Spanish grandee and his proud Andalusian stallion so here they are. I tried to bring a bit of the old Spanish school of painting and light to this piece. You all will let me know if I succeeded or not:) I hope you enjoy! Production notes: Mil Horse, M3, Spanish Rose for M3, Spanish Tack for the Mil Horse posed and morphed in Poser 5. Imported into Bryce 5, tex maps applied and base render done there. Background is a Bryce render using Daz Spanish Rose

Hi Laurie, I'm so in love with this piece because it so reminds me of my ZouZou! I know I've probably said it before, but I'll repeat it: If there is any breed of horse that can manage nearly any task and not shy away, it is the Andalou as well as the Lusitano! And If you ever decide to own one you would not regret it! The stallions are very cool tempered and I was never afraid to put my son on his back. They are very willing learners and treated properly will become the best and most loyal of friends. Thank you so very much for your absolutely magnificent talent with this genre! When I see this piece, my feet start itching to get out my Zahones and boots and head out into the bush! If I could give you a 10 for this I would! So I'll just scribble it in:o) 2x5+'s

I am so glad to see I am not the only nut that loves Andalusians. This would be my ultimate partner, but alas here in South Africa they are almost as rare as hens teeth. And poor old me definitely dont have the money to import one. Therefore I can just drool over pictures. Well done, stunning work.

A fluent result without hint of rendered stiffness. Perhaps in need of reflected light into shadows of man (although my monitor is dark). Lighting and flow of horse hair creates romantic look. Your post work has obviously enhansed it well. ... Di (Hexagonal Mandala)
