Description

Went for a short walk around the historic Derbyshire village of Ticknall this afternoon, on Doctors orders, well... sort of. Gosh, there are poppies everywhere right now! OK so you all know this, but apart from going food shopping I haven't left the house for 3 weeks, so it's new to me... ... so I really enjoyed rattling off about 50 shots today, most with between 1 & 10,000 poppies in them somewhere. I've uploaded this one as I like the way the church spire just peeps out of the trees. Hope you like. Thanks for looking, ~Steve~ P.S. I've just taken delivery of a new laptop with 20" 1600x1050 screen. It's superb, but makes every image look pin-sharp, even shots that would look very soft on a CRT monitor. SO I've had to guess on the sharpening here (USM, .4 pixels, 30%). Let me know if I've over / underdone it, please? Thank you!

Great shot. What really captivated me was the field and the way the textures there start off so sharp and fade into a comforting soft green. Perfect sky for an exellent capture.

I agree with jasonj's assessment. I like the postwork done here. The spire is nice but I really enjoy the splash of red from the poppies. Excellent.

I think you have the sharpness just perfect (I only wish I could achieve that quality on my shots!!) Excellent compostion. Brilliantly moody sky and the splash of red is definitely the cherry on the cake!! Excellent capture. xx P.S. - Hope you're feeling better soon x

These really stand out among all that green. A great image even without the poppies. :)
