Description

This is my 3-year-old lab/heeler mix, Emma... my baby! She became seriously ill late Monday night and spent the past 2 days in the Emergency Animal Hospital. After $1000 and several tests, they're still not sure what was wrong with her. They suspected poison, but that was ruled out by the labwork. Now they're saying most likely an acute baterial infection that invaded her gastro-intestinal system. I've never been more afraid in my life. It was so awful... you just wouldn't believe. After going through an absolute nightmare with her regular "doctor" (and I'm using that term loosely, as the man is a complete ass - for full story, see here, and here and finally here) we found a really good doctor that took wonderful care of her throughout the night on Tuesday. She came home Wed. morning, a bit worse for wear and exhausted, but in good spirits and much better shape than she was. She's really hating that shaved spot on her leg from the I.V. though. She's just dyin' to chew it and I won't let her. :P Here's hoping she continues to do well through the night tonight. Thanks to all of my friends here who sent me notes & comments at DA, emails and site mail here at RO wishing my baby girl well. I truly believe all the love you sent out to her combined with the love she has at home and the care of a wonderful veterinarian named Dr. Graef, helped her to get better. I definitely know that it helped me to get through this horrifying experience. I hope and pray that it's over now. I love you guys! :)

Wow reading this brought tears to me as I have 2 wonderful dogs that if I was to loose them I would maybe not make it myself. I have a full blood Ausie Sheperd male and a Wonderful Chow female so I understand your fears very much. The trouble with Human doctors is they really know very little about medicine and Expierement on us. I hope with all my magical heart that She gets better. Please give us a new Photo of her to let us Know she is doing well. This means I am sure alot to all of us Hun. All our Hearts go out to you. I think I will post a shot of my Critters so share with you today. keep the faith hun, keep the faith. Maylock Stansbury aka DeathTwister

What a beauty!! That first Doc and I use that term very loosely was a ohhhhhh crap I don't think I can use that kind of terminology here!!!(so you get my point) Glad all is going well now, and I am assuming you now have a new vet for life with the wonderful treatment that was given!! Prayers and thoughts are still with you and your entire family, Brandi!!!- Shawn
