A superb macro of this little butterfly guy (or gal) :) Your capture brings out the most beautiful colouring, with a most rich and deep shade of red. Very interesting to remark how this little creature can grip his resting place so well, and so securely.... a remarkable photo, and wonderful angle!

This is a Heliconius sp. There is a lot of variation in patterns and colors, but they all have long upper wings, and are sometimes called "longwings". But that will give you something to start from; there will be photos on the internet. I can't think just now of exactly which species this is.
