Description

** This looks much better in fullsize. ** Here I radically changed the default settings that Vue applies to Poser imported figures, in what concerns bump/displacement of materials. By default, Vue creates a skin bump map of -0.002 for all the skin and I changed it into a displacement map from 0.1 to -0.03, depending on the skin area. Atmo is environmental but with a light balance close to 40%. For light model I used GI. The BG is a structure from Stonemason (that's NOT a 2D background, I never use that). DOF in PS. Thanks for watching. EDIT: after 2 or 3 comments about pixelation and jagged edges, I reposted an improved version where hopefully these things look better. Thanks!

Looks like the poor thing is dead. Very cool render! I can never get the bump and disp maps to show up right with vue and fighting with it leaves me too exhausted to do any renders I like. Great job!

nice depth blur! the dragon in the drop is very, very cool. the bump looks good, but because the skin is so opaque, her fingers look a bit like a painted wood to my eyes. doesn't vue have subsurface scattering? and isn't there a free vue skin shader? i know i saw some posts about it somewhere. her face looks softer than her hands, but both would look better with some translucence and sss. her expression and her hand pose are great (though they seem to bode ill for the sea dragon). great use of color, and all around excellent image.

This is a wonderful image and great idea! I love the lighting, placement and environment. Only thing I would change is to bring out the head of the dragon more. It's hard to get the form from the drop. Maybe it's just me.

Wonderful concept, wonderful delivery. I love her expression, it's so intense, but hard to decipher but her hand pose, at least to me, says she means the dragon no harm. Great technique, my only quibble would be the pixelation on the edge of her exposed ear, it seems to affect that wisp of hair as well.

Terrific lighting, really exceptional. The lips could use a bit less bump strength but really great tweaks overall.

Very beautiful indeed! Reminds me a bit of Anne McCaffrey's 'Dragonriders of Pern' series. LOve how you got the drop to really look like water. DO keep up the good work.

Neat concept. Slightly softer edges round the fingers and top would improve it for me. It looks a touch jagged at the moment.
