Description

This is the Spicebush swallowtail, her and the male in my last post were in the same area of the lake shot both on the same day. Sorry about the soft focus on the wing in the foreground, thought she was very colorful so I decided to post it. Thanks to all that have taken there time to view my gallery and to those that have left comments both constructive and affirming. Thanks kjpweb for the correction wasn't real sure, trying to ID them thought it matched the description.

She does have beautiful colors! Great shot, Royce, looks like she mighta twitched at just the wrong moment... dang it! :)

Good capture - just not of a Tiger Swallowtail. You got yourself a Spicebush Swallowtail - which even is more rare than the Tiger... Bravo! (Check out bugguide.net for identification of these critters, I need it a lot)
