Description

Well, no, this isn't Starvation Creek, but it is taken from the park's parking lot, looking down the Columbia River. If you look at the bottom of the picture, you can see the concrete guardrail of the I84 freeway, which is between me and the river. And you can see the power lines along the lower left that mark the railroad line. Someone commented yesterday that it must have been noisy; it certainly was, but because of the traffic, not the stream flow. You can also see how much steeper the Oregon (left) side of the gorge is than the Washington side, which explains why almost all of the waterfalls are on the Oregon side. Geology lesson to be continued sometime soon. There will be a quiz. :-) Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

Beautiful. Is it just me, or do we live in a really pretty place? I know people will think I'm nuts, but I just love those clouds and the overcast sky. Makes me feel comfortable and right at home!

What a wonderful vista. The misty mountains in the background give a lovely atmosphere and the peaks to the sides make for a lovely natural frame to the whole composition. Great capture Dennis (I don't see a waterfall though LOL!!!) xx

What an exciting and active river! I love the deep spots and the little whitecaps and eddies all vying to make this image more interesting :)
