This photo was taken in 1968, in Iran, near the town of Maku, just across the border with Turkey. I was on my way East, a three-and-a-half months travel which ended in Kathmandu, Nepal. I was hitchhiking with a companion from Brighton, England, whom I met in Munich, Germany. I am sitting on the hood of this Mercedes, that would take us to Teheran. From there I travelled by any means available through Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal.
I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and I run a small literary publishing firm.

I like the "cracked-earth" effect!

Superb surface, fantastic landscape and view. Very well done!

You've set the terrain displacement beautifully. Now, to work on the color distribution (make sure you have a distribution shader in place for each color), consider working on the slope constraints alone to begin with. Set the mouse pointer on the preview pane to get an idea of what the slope number reading is and experiment with the slope setting and that specific color. You are making some great progress here George.

I really like the surface; looks realistic to me. Nice mountain range and atmosphere.
