Description

Common Buckey Butterfly (Junonia coenia) The buckeye is a medium-sized butterfly with two large multicolored eyespots on hindwings and one large eyespot on forewings. The eyespots are presumed to ward off near-sighted predators or those that are a little slow on the uptake. This isn't the tightest of shots, but this is one where the composition, light and shadow (and the impatience of the flutterby) won out over macro-osityism. A beautiful butterfly and capture. Wonderful shadow on the rock. I like the contrast between the rough rock and the gentleness of the butterfly. Excellent indeed. Diane.
