Description

This is another photo taken in the High Desert of Southern California. This is an Octillo (Ock-tee-yo) plant. Other names for this plant are Candlewood, Slimwood, Coachwhip, Vine Cactus, Flamingsword, and Jacob's Staff. A cool fact about this plant is that they can be planted in a line to create a "Living Fence". They are usually leafless. They can have leaves after the rainfall. And I have discovered they can also bloom! This I haven't seen yet! Thank you, once again, for viewing my photos and leaving your comments! They are greatly appreciated! (I haven't been feeling well, so I haven't had time to visit any of your galleries lately. I definately plan to, once my back quits having spasms and I can sit here longer than a few minutes at a time.) You all have a Fantastic Day where ever you may be! Hugs.

OUCH... Lol, can see where you got the title... Ya know that when you see it in bloom you have to show me! Hope your back sorts itself soon honey! I think it was from the 'tumble' shot...

This is one of my favorite desert plants. The leaves can hang on all summer if it gets enough moisture in the night and, yes, it blooms just beautifully! Little flowers all over it! That's one of the reasons I like it so much, that and its very graceful appearance. This is a good pov of the branches of this plant. I assume this is in the Joshua Tree area - California side - so I'll say that I like the way you got that blasted California blue sky behind it. One thing about California summer skies is that they seem to be very blue and mostly without clouds or other clutter... :-).
