Description

Etched into the landscape like a giant gate this is Dalcross aerodrome.Perhaps you will know of it by its more recent name of Inverness airport. The three runway layout is typical of World war two designs in Britain. During that time Dalcross was a training base. Most perimeter tracks were curved ,however the main railway line pre dated the aerodrome and dictacted the straight Southerly edge. The big numbers on the runway ends indicate the first two numerals of the runway magenetic heading.

did'nt know about the magnetic information, amazing stuff! Like how your still under the low clouds, and sideways - emphasises the flying feeling. A chimney, or something in the distant town too..........great details in the image.
