Description
This was the first Jewelwing I had the pleasure to photograph. It posed quite a challenge since it was perching in a manner with a dark background, making it hard to get a good shot where the wings would be visible. I didn't want to use a flash because it was being very generous with it's time in allowing me to take several shots of it. Luckily a few came out. Even though the body looks blue, it was actually green. Just the way the light was hitting it made it look blue. This was captured using a 300mm telephoto macro lens with a 2x closeup filter.
