Description

Why does the light have to bring reality into such sharp focus? Why can't we stay in murky shadows where things remain simpler? Protection.....My blood ran cold. My heart pounded. We don't need it, never have, and yet suddenly there it was; staring at me, mocking me, telling me what my future might hold. Suddenly I can't stand the light; it hurts me in ways I can't even begin to imagine. My mind is spinning, tears spring quickly to my eyes when I cast a glance toward the direction of my newly minted pain. I want to scream. I want to wreak havoc. But what do I do? I go about my life. I try not to look directly into the light for fear I will see the thing that wants to hurt me. I go on because it's easier than not.
