Description

This was started two years ago, but I put it aside several times until I learned a bit more about modeling and patience. My grandparents owned the Yale Apartments in downtown San Diego from the mid 40s to early 60s. Have a lot of fond memories of spending summers there and roaming downtown in the old days before the skyscrapers came. It's still there, on the edge where history and progress meet. Made in AmapiPro and Hexagon

Out of curiosity, what street is it on? I live in San Diego, so I'm wondering if I've seen this before :)

"...until I learned a bit more about modeling and patience." How true that is; I maintain that much of the effort involved in acquiring a skill lies in learning how long things are supposed to take. In this case, it was time well spent.

Well, it was worth the waiting. I don't see how you could do better than you have. It's rather fun to re-create the places of our youth that meant something to us, isn't it?

I like these quirky old edge-of-downtown buildings. I wonder if it has any kind of landmark or historic status, like the Handicraft Guild Building in downtown Minneapolis? (Links: Mpls. Herigage Preservation Commission, Wikipedia, mspjeff's photos, MN Historical Society photos.) Great model and render!
