Description
This photo is part of a series I did for a television station, below is the original heading for the photos.
Dear friends, I went to Guadalajara to do a story on the organization " Mi Gran Esperanza" My big hope. They provide financial, psychological and moral support to children with cancer and their families. The stories were heart wrenching because of the economical struggles these people endure. Most fathers can not cope with the pain and they split leaving the mothers with all the burden of the ill baby plus the care of the other offspring. The group of doctors and volunteers that took this wing 8 years ago found themselves with the dismal rate of 8 kids dying out of 10. Today 7 kids survive out of 10.
Jasmine has been sick for a long time, her mom has sold everything she got, now they survive only with the help of the organization.

The world suffers in a way very unlike the U.S. It's easier to see when there. Great capture.

Tragic. How many times have walked past my own children without scooping them up and heaping them with hugs and kisses. Or complained about working conditions or an inconvienient medical appointment? The photograph is of course expertly composed. But what it says is hard to understand and accecpt. Yet you cpatured the tradegy of it all so skillfully. Thank you for giving me a bit of a shake, and a reminder of what is really important!
