Description
I imagine this is their first date - "first contact"? Perhaps they met online and agreed to meet in a public place. Did either of them know about the Title of the special exhibition in the gallery beforehand? Make up your own story ...
Very minor postwork - colour correction & titling. All modelling (apart from Poser figures) done in Google Sketchup and imported into Vue 6 Infinite, rendered with HDRI lighting and Global Radiosity.

Finally an intelligent and significant image in this gallery.

Great, really fantastic work... The only nitpick would be, the floor's too shiny, maybe tone down the reflections, but as an overall composition, it's great..
craftycurate
Thanks - I agree about the shiny floor. I'm currently rendering a second version with blurred reflections and a few other modifications and corrections.

mmm. very nice lighting, if a bit bright. absolutely lovely sentiment, and great storytelling. their poses are a little unnaturally perfect, and the floor's texture repeats a very obviously, but the story and the clarity of the scene outweigh any weaknesses. nice work.
craftycurate
Thanks for comments - not sure what you mean by "unnaturally perfect" though? I was hoping to convey a bit of tension in their poses - the stiff way they are standing is part of the narrative. In v2 I had to correct her pose a bit as I didn't notice that her legs are overlapping a bit.

Great image! Amazing what kind of impact you achieved with such simple poses and props. Such a feeling of anticipation mixed with hesitation.. I like the sense of space created by the figure's small scale. The fact that in reality Klint's 'The kiss' isnt really that much bigger than an average person, doesnt seem to matter :)
craftycurate
Thanks ArtPearl ... it's rewarding to read a commenter pick up exactly what I was meaning to convey - "anticipation mixed with hesitation". Couldn't have put it better myself! I wondered if anyone would comment about the paintings ... whether it is significant that she's standing next to "The Kiss" by Klimt (you confirm my suspicion that it's a lot smaller in real life), or that he's standing next to "Romeo and Juliet".

Really looks awsome! The lighting is really good. Only drawback is the non seamless flooring.
