Description
Tulips
of blushing red,
passionate purple,
and true blue
Every bloom saying
I love you.
Last fall, on the day of our 30th wedding anniversary,
I planted hundreds of bulbs in my mountain garden,
including tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and irises,
in the hopes they would bloom this Spring,
reminding me of the beauty of the love I shared with LJ.
When the snows finally melted the flowers began to sprout.
How thrilled I was to see those delicate blossoms
opening toward the sun.
And then came more snow and hail and fierce winds
that I feared would kill them.
Somehow all the flowers managed to survive,
Growing tall and beautiful, bursting with vibrant life.
This is an image I made from a photo of the tulips,
Which were amazing shades of purple, violet, red and blue.
