Description

Captured this picture on a nice sunny day! So I used a polarising filter to set off the blue sky. I always seem to end up at railway stations and anything to do with steam trains. Hope you like. Thanks Shaun

This photograph is very special to me.....it's one of those things wherein I find myself staring and staring trying to put my finger on what exactly it is about this picture that holds so close to my heart.... and yet all I know is that it is very nostalgic for me.... goes way back to my early childhood back home, reminding me of something/somewhere I know I must have once had a deep connection with---- A truly beautiful "rail" scape, beautiful detail and colours. Where are we?? Thank you so much for sharing this with us, you've truly brought back a lot of reminisicing for me! Thank you again!

The location is Ramsbottom on the East Lancashire Steam Railway. And thanks for your comments.

Great shot, love the blue sky and the old water tower. I recognised the place before I read the reply Shaun, I live at Rochdale, just over the hill from here. This place holds very dear memories for me, I took my friend of twenty odd years for his last train ride from Rammy to Rossy(Ramsbottom to Rossendale)and back. We rode in the guards van because he was confined to a wheel chair, he died the following week with the big C. Still Happy memories. Makes a change to see it without a train going through. I have a pic taken from the opposite platform with an old deisel going through the crossing. Thanks for sharing. +++++
