Description

I've been working with this character, Jayne, almost since I first got D|S. She's like my benchmark - every couple of months I come back to her and try to make her look more 'real' - she's not supposed to be pretty, just as close as I can get to photographic. The latest version uses Dreamlight's Studio Light Pro, PWSurface, 3Dream's History Hair and Mask's V3NaturalSkin. There are 27 spotlights in the scene. Camera is set for 150mm focal and uses D|S DOF with high pixel samples in the advanced render settings. The skin surfaces are highly tweaked PWSurface shaders which use SSS, AO, Translucency as well as Texture, bump, and SSS maps to try and replicate the feel of skin. Final render at 1200x900 took ~36 hours. Postwork and Photoshop CS3 consisted of some levels tweaks and adding a lens vignette effect. This is as 'real' as I can make it right now; thanks for looking & I hope you enjoy... As always, constructive critique is most welcome.

The lighting really really works well I think. Maybe not pretty in the aesthetics sense, but it came out gorgeous as a render.

This is very good work. "Pretty" is easy and comes with the character usually. The really hard part is making a unique and very real person. This fits the bill.

This is very beautiful. Not bad realsim for a free app and some extra enhancements thrown in. Good job.

Great character. The skin and lighting are done extremely well, and the use of DOF is spot-on. I think the eyes could use a little more to hit the level of realism you achieved with all the other parts. Great work.
