Those would be radiators. I've checked out the V3 (third and last prototype) in the Smithsonian's back shed. Kind of a bizarre plane, really . . . and too many problems left to work out at war's end. Designed to counter the B-29 that never came. Nice illustration.

Those radiators were a problem in that they would have acted as a severe drag, they were, I believe, later placed below the wings, and even more drastic changes tried as the design progressed. There was considerable conflict between the two sets of designers. Would guess those huge wings would have been very helpful during take-off and landing.

Kinda looks like a lot of an ME-109 with the tail section from an ME-262. With wings borrowed from a glider. Very unusual bird! I'd guess they did't plan it dogfighting...
