As I've always said "Some people should simply be removed from the gene pool, it would make the world a better place for all who deserve to be a part of it." I truly hope you find out who did this to your cat and report them to the authorities. Here in Alberta you can get up to 15 years for animal cruelty, I know that can never replace poor Hector's leg but vengence would just make you one of those "people" (and I use the term loosely) who needs to be removed from the gene pool. My sencere simpathy to you and your cat.

I tried to get the police involved, but they said it's a "community issue" Just like all the vicious dogs running around attacking people. Since we are unincorporated, they won't do a dam thing. I too am sorry for your cat. I agree that the person who did this should be caught and punished. I do have one question in response to your statement, "I really HATE this town."...why don't you move away? Find a place where the people are not so cruel. Find a place where you will be welcomed with your pets. There are thousands of places better than that I have no doubt.

(http://liveearth.org/), (I am very involved on a personal level) and as we try to raise awareness for our environment and what we inadvertantly and intentionally do to her/our animals,air and plants. Here we have the best example of why we as a species are not as deserving of survival as long as people who think like this is "FUN" or that riding through whats left of the pristine places on dirt bikes and quads, what we take for granted is not inexhaustable. Remember that this cat that was shot for fun, also moused and kept us safe from rat overpopulation in this rural area, and Hanta Virus (http://www.hantavirus.net/) so killing indescriminantely any animal has sometimes long reaching effects, that we often overlook, through ignorance and plain stupidity. I have four kids, three cats and two dogs. Sorry to hear about some cruel moron with a pellet gun. The "You'll shoot your eye out" line from "A Christmas Story" was only half true. Your cat can attest to that. Hoping you'll nail the person responsible.

a friend of mine that was previously in Indiana had a neighbor that kept shooting his car's windows and the windows on his former trailer house.he tried to get the police to do something, but they refused because the idiot is suppose to be retarded.just down right mean I would say. I had a small dog before that was the sweetness thing. a crazy neighbor I know from hearing the gun, shot into the air or at the dog and he was hit in the groin.Saturday night and an emergency vet bill for $175, 25 miles away one way and was told he could not make it from loss of blood

we also have problems with someone killing birds where my daughter lives.putting any type of firearms in the hands of children is an abomination and most do so without supervising them.I am sorry for what happened to your cat and know that he,after awhile, won't even miss his leg. I hope I don't sound trite,it isn't my intention,but i've seen many animals who have lost limbs continue on and live full and happy lives. god bless
