I have always loved the white sand beaches of the Caribbean, I hope that I did a decent replication of it here. Postwork,the Sea Gull which is from www.Stock.xchng.com (photographer - cx ed).

Hi Patt. Sand on a beach is usually much finer in texture than dirt/soil, and you'll achieve a more realistic sand texture if you have your Bumpiness slider near the left extreme (no more than a quarter of the way along) and your Mimic Terrain slider also near to the left extreme. And to ensure no underlying texture shows through have a high (to the right for this slider) Depth/Scale setting for your sand. Try these settings on this scene and see if it improves the texture of your sand. I hope you found this comment constructive.
