Description
This is from a potato bought from the supermarket for eating, a few went to seed so I planted some in a tub, six in total, this is the flower off one, the rest were white flowers.
I had never seen one this colour before, now I am told it is common.

Yes, small flies I didn't see them until I down loaded to the comp, I had about 2lb of spuds of them, Jen said I would be very lucky if they produced a crop. They were great with butter and mint sauce.

This is beautiful! A couple of months ago a friend of mine asked me to paint him a picture of potato blossoms. I couldn't find any good reference photographs. He's right - they're quite beautiful. Perhaps a bit beyond my limited skill, though! Your photo is stunning. Would you mind if I used it as a reference and gave it a shot? It may all come to nothing, but this is certainly the best picture I've seen of this lovely flower, bar none!

it is quite beautiful.I never seen potato blossoms although when I was a kid around gardens I never was interested in flowers

I've seen you on the site many times, but there are so many fine artists I don't get to, I don't even talk about it, it's so embarrassing. Anyway I saw Tara's painting of this, so I came here at last. This is a really bold yet soft capture; the full-view is almost like fabric in some ways, and you caught the furrows and slipping/sliding nature of the petals close up. Nice light, nice burst, and a nice capture of a flower we don't often see. I'll save your gallery url, and I'll be back...
