Description

Nikon 7900 image. We finally got sun today after 3 weeks of rainy days. We needed the rain and also managed to avoid any flooding near me but....... The grass grows so fast I can see it and it's too wet to mow. The dragonflys are all hiding somewhere. I am going stir crazy. Mushrooms have been sprouting everywhere; and that brings me to today's posting. It (like yesterday's posting)is another edible mushroom acording to my reference book and it definitely looks tasty but as is always the case, I think I know what it is but I ain't eating it, lol. I can not recall ever seeing these before and that puzzles me some because even before I started taking photos, I always was fascinated by nature and have spent countless hours in the woods and this bright red fungi would have surely caught my attention. Of course, with mushroome, timing is everything. They are definitely - here today - gone tomorrow - growths. Oh well, some mysteries are never solved. These are (to the best of my knowledge) two examples of an American Caesar's Mushroom - Amanita caesarea. Apparantely there is a European version that is considered to have superior flavor. Both have poisonous look alikes. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

What a fabulous shot. these are so cool. So adorable they almost don't look real. I love the rich colors brought out in this light and the compo is great with this pov. And post work is wonderful as well.

Nice composition and colours. I don't think you really want to be eating these ones, the Aminita's are too dangerous to be messing with.

Yeah - it's those poisonous look-alikes that keep me from eating the good ones! :) Awesome shot!
