Description
Playing with the function editor in Vue has been an illuminating time for me. I had no idea you could wavemap an infinite plane but I did and got some texture to the water, along with a definite color shift by applying a fractal to it.
I know there's some work to do on the elements on the lower right side so please ignore them. I did find a way to drive a slight amount of specularity under the waterfall just by playing with the nodes again so I'll have to see if I can figure out how I did it.
Again, more work to do, of course, but it's definitely coming along. Thanks to everyone who's given me ideas and to all who will.

I love looking at this W.I.P its amazing to see how much it changes from one version to the next. It's also a great learning experiance to watch, as I do not have Vue. I am definately learning from your work just what can be done with the program. It's also making me wish I could run out and buy a copy of it. Great work and I look forward to seeing the next stage of development.

The strata looks pretty good, but the lighting is too dark on the left-hand side. Absolutely wonderful water.

Coming along very well. Is there a way, eventually, to add motion blur to the waterfall particles? That would give it even more sense of realism. I like the frothy water, and the detail in the terrain so far. Looking good!

Coming along very well babe

Beautiful scene. Rather than a water fall it makes me think of the crumbling levy in New Orleans. Like the water is bursting through rather than down and over.

Everything on the left side of the picture looks terrific. That waterfall is amazing. All of the foilage looks good. Many of the rocks have a look of dark ink in the cracks. More drawn than real. Like if you do the ink/ or dark lines filter in photoshop. Not sure if this is one of the things your fixing in final image. I first mentioned the lower right water too before I noticed your comment to ignore them ; )

I love the color shift you got on the water, it's definately warming up!

The wetness of the rocks below the waterfall is wonderful, great job there! I have the impression that the material of the low rocks in the water has been reverted to a previous version. On those low rocks, I'd expect wetness. Specular highlights driven by altitude might be a way to make the rocks wet along the waterline, maybe use the same function to darken the rock color close to the waterline too. The water itself is much improved, and I like the rapids on the right side of the image, gives more balance to the composition. The color of the darker parts of the clouds in the sky looks a bit off to me, too purplish. The part just to the right of the waterfall almost looks like smoke from a fire (which would work in this image), but the part at the upper left doesn't make that kind of impression. A lot of nitpicking, agreed, but I think this one is coming along beautifully!
