Description
The 'fake stones' here are not what I expected; too many black speckles. I guess it depends on how how the light is positioned.
This is my first render with a new PC I have built. I have rendered this image on the old system; and, it took 6 hours. On the new system, it took 4 hours, 23 minutes. I attribute the faster render time to both a 10,000 rpm hard drive; and, the new Intel quad core extreme CPU.

If you wouldn't have told it were rocks I would have thought they were tiny shrubs, the ones that come rolling through the screen in a western movie!:-) Great terrain indeed!

Excellent terrain, Bob. Is there a way of lightening the shadows cast by the fake stones to minimize the speckled effect on your terrain? Didn't know HD specs affected render times, thought that was all processor, ram, and graphics card related. Food for thought.

Sounds like you traded the VW beetle for a Ferrari, Bob - it makes a world of difference! I like the subtle displacement on the rocks. Yeah, you gotta be careful with fake stones... they multiply like rabbits!

Great Terregen work. The AMD quad is probably better and definitely cheaper than Intel. My Turion 64 renders far faster than my Intel Duo. (And was cheaper to make)
