Description

"Out of damp and gloomy days, out of solitude, out of loveless words directed at us, conclusions grow up in us like fungus: one morning they are there, we know not how, and they gaze upon us, morose and gray. Woe to the thinker who is not the gardener but only the soil of the plants that grow in him." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

From a the bark of a palm tree in my front yard, a profusion of life. I was debating whether or not to post it, but finally figured what the heck. I kept it small so no need to click on it for an enlargement. ;'] ------

Just amazing the parasites that tend to grow on the host. My trees have all kinds of little growths like this in many colors...good post Kort! Aloha!

Lichen are beautiful and very useful. As they are very fragile they suffer very quickly from an atmospherical pollution. Because of that polluted area can be identified. The one you shot seems to be alright ;)

What is very interesting to me is the palm bark. WE have loads of palm trees in the desert, non of which have bark like this. Fascinating! The fungus is beautiful, although I suspect it is ultimately damaging to the palm. Thanks for this interesting photograph, Kort. Hugs. Suzanne

This is so cool! I love this kind of plantlife and it amazes me how it grows in the unlikeliest places.
