Ahem. I should have thought that some American patriotic ideas might occur to some people. Nothing like it in my mind, though.
Austrian flag is red-white-red (that's where I live now). Former Yugoslavia (my dead and buried homecountry) had blue-white-red and most offsprings of hers have a combination of these three colours.
The eyes that process the flag colours are haunted. Very haunted. It takes heavy chemistry to integrate what the flag, any flag, imposes on its subjects. Lucky ones find some good they can adopt. The upper half of the image here has surprisingly much light and beauty.
Maybe I am not altogether lost for some kind of patriotism after all. After all, art cannot lie, right?

Feelings of patriotism aside...I so followed your words into this image's view. And yes, oh yes, the eyes here...the horrors witnessed, the atrocities they've seen. But, you are right...the upper is quite beautiful, nearly fragile. Which suits the comp quite well, I'd say. :)

Red, white, and blue are not always American, no matter how much WE think they are! As you pointed out, other nations use these colors in their flags also, and other people rally around these colors in the love of their countries. Those haunted eyes can be the eyes of any patriot, I don't think there is a country (ours, USA, included) who doesn't have atrocities to hide, hard times to remember, sorrows to carry, mistakes to want to erase. This is awesome Lipa, just awesome.
