"Healing Springs of Tinos" By David J. Reid aka "Shardz" Software used: Poser 6, Vue 6 Infinite, Hexagon 2.2, Photoshop CS2 Tinos, a beautiful Greek island in the Cyclades, is a sacred land of modern Greece that has been a semi-secretive place of spiritual healing since ancient times. It was the founded island of Amphrite and Poseidon, the purification center for Delos, (birthplace of Artemis and Apollo), and is the Lourdes of modern Greece. It has been a world pilgrimage center in sacred healing of feminine energy for thousands of years and is also the home of marble carving since before The Acropolis. During ancient times, Tinos was known as Ophioussa (ophis is "snake" in Greek) because of the great quantity of snakes crawling on the soil of the island because of the abundant water content. According to ancient Greek mythology, Poseidon, who was the island’s protector, chased the snakes away from the island and was the reason he was highly worshipped in Tinos. According to ancient mythology, Tinos was also the home of the son of Poseidon, Aeolus; Custodian of the four winds. Tethys was the personification of the fertile ocean. She married her brother Oceanus, the father of all rivers, and had over 3,000 children by him; the springs, lakes, and rivers of the ancient world. Tethys was the god-mother of Rhea, mother of all gods including Poseidon, and raised Rhea during the Titanomachy. Here, an immortally young Tethys is portrayed maximizing the healing potency of the springs through the divine power of Apollo under the blessing of Poseidon to refresh sea farers and fellow worshipers. *~* Image Notes *~* Theoretically, Tethys was probably age 285 by the time Poseidon reached adulthood, but I felt nobody wanted to see a 285 year old woman flinging magic around. I'm just keeping it unreal in the Fantasy section, after all. *Wink* The entire rock structures were modeled completely in Hexagon with a complex ecosystem applied in Vue. The pose was created by me as a fledgeling apprentice under the wisdom of the Great Ilona (See! It worked!), and I hope to take a more active role in creating content myself.
