Description

Ngaruhoe was used as Mt Doom in a recent film. Here it is in a less fiery mood. It is still an active volcano. The clouds surrounding the cone are not sulphurous, but the result of a very cold South-easterly airstream.

What great juxtapositions: between wet and dry, between the civilization of a road and the wildness of a snow-capped peak. Very nice.
