Our vacation earlier this week took me back home to Pensacola. This is a shot of my son Will as he launches into some surf skim-boarding. Always the athlete with an ability to master any sport, he recently relocated to the gulf coast and picked up on surf skim-boarding, a local favorite. There is only a moment or two in between waves when the water level is just right. You take a running leap, tossing the board out in front of you then jumping on it to "skim" through the shallow waters. The timing is crucial, so you start running ahead of time anticipating the calm section between waves. It's much more difficult than it seems to be. He's fantastic at it, but I still have the bruises on my butt left from my attempts. But it at least gave him a good laugh.
