Description
Another view of Cathédrale Saint-Gatien de Tours. This time behind A Palace or something, but I think it's now a museum? I do know that it houses a 31x33 metre Cedar tree(that I have a snap of also)!
Took these two clips off the web... One says it took 200yrs to build, the other 400...
'The Cathédrale St-Gatien, built between 1239 and 1484, reveals a mixture of architectural styles. The richly sculpted stonework of its majestic, soaring, two-tower facade betrays the Renaissance influence on local château-trained craftsmen. The stained glass dates from the 13th century (if you have binoculars, bring them). Also take a look at the little tomb with kneeling angels built in memory of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany's two children; and the Cloître de La Psalette (cloister), on the south side of the cathedral.'
'The construction of Saint Gatien Cathedral took four centuries ! Its two 70 m high towers symbolize the Ascension to God.'
I do have a pic of the little tomb, but it's a bit fuzzy, will see if I can sharpen it in PSP (I hate editing!), I also have a fair few pics of the stained glass... So sorry, but you may just get bored of this cathedral soon! Lol.
Thank you for all comments and ratings, I appreciate them all.

Another beautiful view. Great capture, and great history lesson. Can you imagine anyone, now, sticking with something that would take 4 centuries to build?

Oh no! not another shot of that Cathedrale. #:0) A lovely shot Tracey, pity about the tree on the left, couldn't you climb it an lop them three little branches off? Love the detail in the stone work, the front view of yesterday really showed off the masons work, you can see in that one different styles of successive masons over the years! Do you have any internal shots? Like how you did homework and added text makes it more interesting. Well done you!
