Description

the 55' thru 57' Thunderbird was a work of poetry, then the designers went off the deep end.recently they almost made it back but did not capture the charm and appeal of the first 3 years I took the T-bird foto at Miller's classic cars in Tyler,Texas.I will be sharing some more at a later date.the background-urr, I forgot the name of the community I just read it on the building-Well's Creek. A person can learn all kinds of things reading thanks for viewing and any comments

Not too shabby...looks pretty good for its age. I must have some renovated Mustang photos somewhere in my classic car database. I'll have to check.

I walked right up to the truck each time it offloaded a Thunderbird each of those years. All three of them were red and going to the same customer. Fleetwing was the name of the oil company that supplied the money. I had a little plastic bird that was a giveaway from the second retail outlet in town. That's where the pinball machines were. I met the customer three or four years later. She was a tall rough looking woman that could have run a ranch but she mostly sold heating oil. Your photo didn't remind me it just made sure I did not forget Texas. Oil bought a Continental Mark II also. I had a plastic model of one of those. It was big, about 18 inches long. I remember the price was $10,000 for the real one. This was long before I ever heard of Lotto. That was an alternative to coastal oil. I suppose you are wondering if she had a gun. The driveway was gravel. Some things I just don't know.

I agree, the recent "re-invention" of the old T-bird was doggone near miss. They should have just left it alone. This shot is perfection, the background just right for the car!

To Ford's defense, the 1958 TBird out sold the 1955, 56 and 57 combined. They unfortunately are in the business of making money more than making classics. 1958 had a larger buying public with more seating. But I agree with you about the artistic poetry Ford betrayed for profit.
