Description

Where do this idea came from? A few days ago, I found this: "In Shakespeare's time, suicide was considered a sin, and sometimes even unforgivable. Suicides would ordinarily be buried in unconsecrated ground without a Christian service. Sometimes they'd be buried at a crossroads (as a warning to everybody not to do the same), and sometimes with a stake through the heart (to prevent them from rising as undead.)" Poser 7 - Figures and Hanging Pot _ free stuff. The rest was made in Cinema 4D This was the original "Ophelia´s Grave"; I mean, the one I always wanted to do. There were some technical and artistic problems that delayed the results I wanted to achieve. But, finally, here it is. There were some extraordinary artists who helped me through the whole process. They know who they are. I´m extremely thankful to them. As always, all comments are welcome. Danilo Lejardi

Some famous concepts get so set in the mind, that it is startling to be presented with another possible view. The immediate surprise here is that Ophelia isnt lying down - she is vertical! The rest is just as unsettling – the 'liquid' stake, the eerie background (is the structure real or a stage?) The additional figure in the background? Which one is real and which one an actor? or is it a dream? Comparing the two versions is fascinating too – the first focuses on Hamlet and this one on Ophelia. There are common visual features such as the watery grave, and the red stake. But this one is more subdued – there is less red and the composition changed from diagonal(more dramatic) to vertical/horizontal, a good reflection of the differences between Hamlet and Ophelia. Thanks for letting us be part of this wonderfully lyrical image.

this is such a wonderful and fascinating interpretation of this story...you have been able to convey a feeling of emptiness/loneliness/hopelessness in ophelia's new realm...superb render!
