Description

Something about this - the light, the wall in the background, the way the postwork turned out - something - made me think of Provence. An odd thought, since I've never been there, and had to look it up to see what part of France I was thinking of. I kept trying to call it "White Wedding," after the Billy Idol song, but this other mental image kept coming back over and over. An old country house in France, roses in the garden, a warm afternoon, a glass of wine, spending time with good friends . . . So there you go. It reminds me of a place I've never been, an afternoon I've never had, in a country I've only seen in pictures. For those of you who live there, or who have visited, I hope I'm not too far off the mark! ............ The original photograph was actually taken in my next-door neighbor's back yard. I know, I know, you've told me more than once that I shouldn't be sneaking around in people's back yards! But I had their permission, and besides - I did it when they weren't home. :)

Oh yeah, Provence, Rhode Island. You should have some brie or edam cheese to go along with that wine. Great POV, lighting, textures and contrast in this macro. From the sharp clarity of the image, it appears you did some filter work with that beautiful rose. I've been playing with some of my mind to the extent the petals look like thin potato chips. I could have easily been shot or arrested several times for trespassing onto people's property to take photos. And since I do it mostly in the early morning, they are usually still home when I take the pics. Now if I could just keep their dogs quiet. BTW, I was going to post a rose today and tomorrow but am holding off until PJ returns from her trip.

I think you went with the right title out of the 2 you had in mind.. I think this is too soft & beautiful to be named after Billy Idol song :) I love it, well done..
