Description

A distant star surrounded by a belt of debris and dust. Slowly tumbling asteroids cast long shadows through the dust feild. Is this a planet that never quite formed? Or perhaps, more sinisterly, the remains of a planet that was destroyed in some unkown and ancient cataclysm? Man has come to this far place in search of answers. On the largest asteroid, a roughly spherical body with enough mass to possess a weak gravity, a research mining base has been built beside an old impact crater. A supply shuttle drifts in towards the short low G runway as a ground transport returns from a survey operation. ******** A couple of the objects here were modelled with tS 6.6 and subsequently remodelled and modified with tS 7.51 - all other models made with tS 7.51 except the terrain which was made with MojoWorld 3 Pro using Calyxa's excellent Crater tutorial. The sky; background starfeild made with Celestia, asteroids and volumetric lighting made with tS 7.51 and used as background shader. Light flares and copyright notice added with tS 7.51 - Irfanview for resizing and JPG conversion. Check out the bigger version to see the details better. I feel like I just stepped into the pages of a beautifully illustrated sci-fi book! Fantastic image, Stephen, it really takes the mind away into distant places - and I love the text and how it complements the picture. You write beautifully, and it gives even morre "story" to the images. Excellent!!

Wow! This one is really superb! Excellent modeling, light, and composition. This scene could be Earth at some point in the (hopefully) far flung future. Great job!
