Description

Again a try to paint hair. The part that I'm least pleased with is the top of her hair. Which didn't work out very well. I'm still working on the shirt she is wearing. I need to put some shadows and highlights on it. If anyone has some suggestions for that I would love to hear them. The background sucks I know, but this is just an excercise in painting hair and clothes. :) Thank you in advance for any comments. Rynn.

Rynn, you're getting real close. One, dono what you don't like about the topof her hair. Its ok, look more at her left cheak neck, hair besides it should be black too. As for a tip, which you will not like, hair is like grass, layers after layers after layers. This layer is excelent, now, blur them a bit with a brush, then add your next layer of hairs. Hair is a pain, I know. Also let a few hairs spring out of the top, randomly for natural effect. Best tip: create hair at a HUGHE resolution, then size down, and no-one will notice., Keep on practicing, don't forget to use big highlight, midtones brushes to tune down or up your hair.

riko, I started at 1500x2000 resolution for this one (didn't know how large to render). Do you think it would be better to start even bigger? And thank you for the tips you gave, very helpful. :)

I haven't tried painting my own hair and clothing for too long either, but what I did was to fust follot the shadows that was on her body naturally, then try transfer them to the layer where I painted the top or whatever it was. view the image with and without that layer while you're working on it...

I would actually say that this is too good for the beginner's section to be honest. The hair is really, really good. So is the lighting.

For the hair, you've done a wonderful job. I'm a beginner with the hair too. Just remember when you're doing the top of their hair... everyone's hair seems to part in a certain way, and some people have their bangs come to a point (at the roots). For the shirt, I would just spray it like you would do with the skin textures, using colors slightly darker and lighter than your main color. You've definately got talent. Keep it up. :0)

Thank you for all the helpful comments. :) I had to look up the word bangs in my English-Dutch dictionairy, but I believe I understand what you mean insaneinthemembrane. That's a very good tip. Thank you.

This is a great start. Somthing about her hairline looks off.
