Question for you:
Trying to design a believable rocket motor and exhaust for my new asteroid prospector ship model. But i think it may be confusing.
Do you see a bright pink kind of electric arc, 4 spotlights and a dust cloud from the asteroid?
Or do you see a rocket flame, 4 steering jets and smoke?
Thanks for the help :o)

I see the 4 steering jets with smoke of course. Sounds more challenge than the other! :-))) (Man am I sweet.) The jet here is already very convincing - as the whole image is. Only this pot at the end of the robot arm has something of an artist collecting pennies after a street show :-)))) I would give some to be honest. Deserves it.

Awesome !!!!!

Hmmm.... Just as i feared. Trying to model a futuristic electric hydrogen plasma engine, like NASA's research VASIMR, (plus 4 spotlights and some stirred up dust) and it comes out looking like today's chemical rockets. Back to the drawing board... Hey Wabe, show some respect for my expensive AI assisted, active/passive (you can just passively scan for the astroid's goodies, or zap the regolith with your laser cannon and snap a spectrograph) mass spectrometer + magnetometer. Anyway, come to think of it, that would prolly be stowed during a landing.

Smoke and fire effects? Use Particle Illusion. A free version 2 is available but gotta search around for it.

Thanks RBlue - will look for it, good idea!
