The sepia really works for this image.

I bet whatever food he sells sometimes tastes like cigar! What film did you use ? I love the gray and the sharpness.

Hey thank you both for your comments!.. Rork I can't remember exactly what film I used but I think it was either Kodak T-Max 400 (TMY) or Ilford Delta 400... It was shot in natural light that came from the large windows at the front of the deli, but I usually use a fast film for these type of shots..Usually 400 ISO, but I will sometimes go as high as 1600, depending...

Why so soft focused..? Well, this surely is your choice, and I'm respectful, but IMHO a razor sharp pic would be stronger. The owner of the deli is a damn fine poser... :)

I can see why you like it so much Byte Me.....this is a great image!

Thank you doruksal and Michelle for your comments.. doruksal, the reason for the softer focus was to lessen the harsh surrounding of this poor little deli and to empathize my main subject the deli owner.. He was a sweet southern gentleman, like an angel from a Deli heaven and I think the soft focus kinda gave it a saintly look... But Rork is right, everything did taste a bit like a cigar... lol

Greetings! Well done...Since Memphis is my hometown this photo is meaningful to me in bringing back memories when I wandered the downtown area years ago. Now living in Austin. Keep'em coming! Kind regards, Bill Siegrist Bill@TexasCEF.org

MY GOSH!!!! Born in W. Tn (Memphis), lived from birth till age 3 in Earle, Arkansas, then till 6th grade in Mid Tn (Nashville) and been in E. Tn (just east of Knoxville), now going on 40 years. Incredible pic! Having flashbacks! Still go back once a year to see family, old haunts (Pink Palace, etc.) and have some of the best BBQ east of the Mississippi! Thanks for the memories! chipstuff22@yahoo.com

Great shot! Do you remember exactly where it was? Living in Memphis, I would love to visit this place, and I don't think I've been there before.
