Description

This is the entrance to Fort Morgan. The upward sloping ground screened the fort walls from enemy gunfire. The seven flags on the glacis represent the groups that have controlled this area. They are: France, Great Britian, Spain, the United States, the Alabama Militia (Montgomery Rifles), the Confederacy, and the State of Alabama. Thank you for viewing. Make it a great day!

Wow. Each of those flags represents a conflict as one power gave way to another. Some peacefully through negotiation and treaties, with other changes a result of armed conflict. A great history in one exhibition.
