Description

FE & PS for texture Some of you are aware of this, some not. But, I relocated nearly 1100 miles away from my home in the New Orleans area, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Until very recently, it is not something I could even bring myself to mentally revisit any more than absolutely necessary..or to speak of, except to those closest to me....mostly family members, or those who lived it, too. I don't share this with you for pity (a useless thing in my mind)...or even empathy...only to say aloud into space, that some days are simply a bit harder than others...and that this happened to be one. Hence, I think, the water (and imperfect haziness) in this image...which sometimes revisits me even when I sleep...(And it better stay at bay tonight...because I'm ready to mambo into the arms of Morpheus...zzzzzz...lol) So, here is to firm ground..even a jetty. I'll gladly take it! :) Wishes for ample sky above you, terra firma at your feet, and the breeze softly upon you in the week ahead :) Heartfelt thanks to each of you for your wonderful previous comments...and for those of you who have favorited images, or added me to your artist favs. What great company I keep! :) Hugs and thoughts, Nancy

Super fractal work you have created here and thankyou for sharing your story, I can imagine that it would have been a very traumatic time and I hope that things go better from now on. We saw the devestation on TV and it seems that they are very slow getting things back to normal there even now.

I recall you mentioning before that you were a former Orlean's resident. in your fractal,--I see a animal crouched near a log watching for an unsuspecting fish to get too close. very unique fractal and excellent use of flood or UF

I cannot imagine a catastrrophy like katerina, even if er have storms in Sweden too, but never that big. You made a very beautiful image of the jetty thst maybe could have saved a little.

thanks for sharing a small bit of your story.. your comments on my work have been well appreciated...morpheus escapes me these days, he seems harder to come by as i get older...perhaps the anticipation of the final sleep makes me want to stay awake as long as possible..my thoughts are with you... hugs Well, I must have a silly imagination, because what I see in this is a round slice of banana and a pinecone, sitting next to each other in the water! Oh dear, but I'm sure that's not what was intended! But the texture in this is wonderful, and I do like the colors. Bravo!

A most beautiful mystical image, a healing one I think .. water is such a strange thing, so alive, so unpredictable, always making it's own way, even when man tries to redirect it some other way. We cannot live without it, yet often we die becuase of it. I too would move, I could not stay where my life was so devasted. May sleep come easily now, and bad dreams be caught in your dream catcher!

What a story. It's not possible not to feel empathy. And what a beautiful image. The water babbles so gently... Excellent work.

Fantastic image. Just looking at it puts me into a very calmed mood. Your courage to share some of what has to be a very painful memory is very much appreciated. For those like myself that saw the devastation on TV but have never experienced anything even close to it can learn a great deal about survival of spirit from you and others. The idea of talking with someone that was really there can make the experience far more real by bringing a personal face to it. I love all of your posts, but have to admit this one truly has touched me, with its calming influence and knowing its history makes it even more amazing. Thank you so much for this gift of yourself.

It is all mood and feeling with technical virtuosity subdued into quiet service. As to mishaps, disasters, they encumber life but can make us strong, more tolerant and appreciative of the woes of others. I hope your new home is a source of developing happiness.

I can only imagine the horrors you went through. When we go through those kinds of life changing events, they haunt sometimes for years in our dreams. This is superb and it says a lot about you as a person. We pull strength from the smallest of places that have a solid anchor to them. Superbly done. Bunny

This is such an awesome and beautiful piece. I can't even imagine what it must have been like going through that devastation. Or what it must be like going through the recovery and healing process. I hope that I never have to experience anything like that. My heart goes out to you.

Loved your metaphorical allusion "mambo into the arms of Morpheus" ...one could even "mosey" too :o) ....I can empathize with you wholeheartedly, dear Nancy, and one of my fave little quotes on this subject has always been, "sleep, that knits up the ravelled sleeve of care" ...Shakespeare, n'est-ce pas? Sorry for the mini-digression :o) ....I really like this, hence, fave! :o) B*B n Hugs S
