Description
The legend of Thessalonike says that after the death of her brother Alexander The Great she threw herself into the sea becoming a mermaid. She would ask wayward sailors if Alexander was still king. If they answered her back that Alexander was still king, she would let them pass. If they answered incorrectly, Thessalonike would turn into a gorgon and unleash her fury upon the sailors and the sea.
