Description

Finally an image from me in these galleries after a very very long time :o) This image was a study to obtain realistic cracks on rocks/fake stones and has been created with the unregistered version of the tg2tp. Postwork (crappy DOF) in Photoshop CS2. Can't remember rendertime anymore, about 2,5h I guess. Rendersettings were... Detail: 0.85 AA: 3 GI: 3/3 Gamma: 1.5 Contrast: 0.325 Raytracing on (unnecessary!) I've also used a combination of GI and fill lights with a customised 9 sunlight-array to create softer shadows. I presume most of you already know about these techniques, but some may not so the techniques used in this image can be found here: (soft shadows) http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=1624.0 (fill lights) http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=580.0 (cracks on fake stones) http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=1939.msg19180#msg19180 I hope these will be of any use to you. Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment :) Love to hear any suggestions. So, what kind of study is next? :o) Martin

Great work on the mats for bolders and the ground. love the colors and subtle displacement. The bigger boulders have abit too distinct Voronoi noise look...you may want to add some distortions in that shape.

As mentioned on planetside ... the colours and lighting match perfectly ... the stones themselves? Very cool displacement!
