Description
Since I'm stationed about one block from the arena I am, on occasion, able to "slip" into some of the events for short times.

It has the feel of such an intimate venue, while it is quite obviously somewhere larger. I love his work.

I wish I 'd been sitting where you were on that day! ( just jealous and fan of Eric CLapton for long years). This is a very good shot.

In October 1967, aged 16, I stood on a table watching The Jeff Beck Group at a youth club promoting their second single record "Tally Man" (after "Hi Ho Silver Lining"). There were only a hundred of us school kids there, but the show was broadcast live on national radio. The long-haired bloke in the suit playing lead guitar in profile right in front of me, only 10 feet away, looked familiar, and it took me a while to realize this was actually Jeff Beck. As for the singer, I had never heard of him. He wasn't bad at all. His name was Rod Stewart. I have seen several great pop artists from up close, like Eric Burdon at the Marquee from a few feet away (singing, he spat in my face). It's so wonderful to see your pop heroes for real. I wish I had been there to see Eric Clapton.
