Description

LAMIA A Libyan Snake Goddess In Greek mythology, Lamia was a beautiful woman who, like so many other beautiful Greek women, had a liason with Zeus and bore a number of his children. Zeus' wife, Hera, was jealous, and she kidnapped all the children to keep them out of their mother's arms. Mad with grief, Lamia began to entice mortal children to serve as her substitute children. However, her deceitful actions caused her to transform into a monster with the head and breasts of a woman and the body of a giant serpent, and rather than treating the children as her own children, she began to treat them as her own supper, devouring them with gusto. In time, Lamia was able to reproduce, giving life to creatures like herself called Laminae. The Laminae were lustful she-demons and had the power to seduce men and suck out their life force. The Greek name Laminae means either "lecherous vaginas" or "gluttonous gullets." * * * Mornin' All *S* Hope everyone is having a great Saturday so far ! And dear Tara, since you loved the first round, here's more inanities...hope yall get a titter r two :o) The dead batteries were given out free of charge. Thieves who steal corn from a garden could be charged with stalking. To write with a broken pencil is pointless. ~ Love & Hugs ~ * Mina * Photo Credtis: stock xchng Brush Credits: http://brushes.500ml.org www.prettybrush.deviantart.com www.inobscuro.com

The look in those eyes tells me she has already spotted her next meal... The vines "snaking" all around her add to the eeriness and mysticism of this beautiful creature. Very well thought out and rendered, Mina.

I tell you, those Greeks do know how to tell a good tale. Just love all the myths and this one's fascinating. Doesn't get more interesting than (lecherous vagina).:o) Such an exotic portrait - she is as beautiful as she is wicked. CC

The other day someone told me I was average - but he was just being mean! Nothing average about your work, my dear! :) This is just gorgeous. You found a perfect match between the face and the myth. Awesome!

Gasp!!! Talk about bone-permeating resonance in an image!!! The eyes, as always, penetrating...but the effect on her mouth, otherworldly. Beyond amazement is where I'm seated on this one, mi hermana. Hugs and blessings! :)
