Description

Made in Terragen 2. I rarely work in TG2 because of how long the renders take. This one took me 144 hours, at this size. That's not my record. My record is over 200 hours (and I also have a faster processor now). Thank you to choronr for help with the clouds. These had totally stymied me, and because of his help, I can now do what I'd really like to accomplish. The title is because I used the Alpine shader. Wonderful terrain generator!

Terrain looks good, pretty realistic. But 144 hours for that?? You're better off in T9 man... You can still get realistic images as good as if not better than here without waiting eons. Just a suggestion.

Sorry; I almost missed this one. For your first TG2, you've done amazing work here Pat ...keep them coming. I don't understand why the render took so long. Maybe if you unchecked the GI and lowered some of the quality settings you could shorten the render time without sacrificing the image appearance.

I did not realize until I just read it you are a language guy. Mine are FORTRAN, PASCAL/DELPHI, EDITOR/ASSEMBLY and BASIC with a minor in C++ Learning edition. In the real world I can read ABS bibles in alphabets up to 52 character sets Chinese is my failing, I see it as regional thousands. I have the Planetary Society VHS tape "Venus/Mars, the movie" which is what all this terragen stuff is based on as well as Google earth. While I am familiar with the USAF AudioVisual first CD-ROM "Aspen" I have never seen the original. ( I have visited Aspen as well as Silverton in the real world) 800x 533 and it took 144 hours? What was it doing? The picture is lovely. Better than Bryce, maybe better than Vue. Maybe what bothers folks about my renders and comments is there is no deception. Clearly you want this to look like a particular place and time on earth but to have a universal theme and that is the source of the long render time. An incredible search is over. Sit on your asses light up a camel this is the promissed land!!

My husband is like you. He can learn a new computer language in days. For me, too hard to even try. As for what the computer was doing, I assume it was counting to itself in binary. No camels allowed in my house, not even the camel's nose in the tent. Don't own an ass. No grass for it to feed on. :)

Great scenery well rendered, I seem to overlook the capabilities of TG, well worth looking at again. Thx for the inspiration.
