Description

Your first impression maybe is some kind of a wasp, but this creature certainly has nothing to do with a wasp. I cannot even sting. It is in fact a hoverfly, called Myathropa florea, which feeds on nectar. Hoverflies are not very well know and yet they are very important for nature. While feeding, they spread out pollen, just the way bees do.

It may be beneficial and it may look like a bee or wasp but in fact be harmless, but it still qualifies for the bee dance and bug spray if it gets too close. This is a great macro and it will help me identify it when I see so I can properly dance and spray. :-)

Wonderful macro of a beautiful little fly. Yes, what would we do without these fantastic little perfect lifes. That is why I think twice, before I try to flick it off.
