My father and I used to fish off the coast of Fort Fisher (a Civil War fort) from his boat, the Pop-a-Top. When he'd see Pelicans flying by in formation, he jokingly called them the Fort Fisher Air Force. This year marks the 15th anniversary of his death, and I decided to spend a few hours down there where I can often feel his presence. As I was sitting on the shore I saw these birds high over the area where I spread his ashes to the sea from aboard the Pop-a-Top, per his request. I grabbed my camera which, luckily, still had the telephoto lens attached and snapped this shot. The result is a little blurry since it was a hand-held long-lens shot, but I believe my father will enjoy the pic. So this one's for you, Dad. I miss you...

So touching.....My son was just starting to bond with his dad when he died...I'm not doing very well myself, it's only been a year....but we have are memories right.

I see a lot of Pelicans flying by my place in Umatilla. to me they look like they are b 52 bombers or something. They are cool birds and this is a nice dedi. nice job
